Tilak Ram Tharu is the Founder and President of Women and Child Development (WACD) USA, INC., with more than 22 years of experience in nonprofit and government leadership roles. He holds a Master’s degree in Sociology from Tribhuvan University (T.U.), Nepal, recognized as equivalent in the U.S. by World Education Services (WES).
Mr. Tharu has completed several professional development programs in the U.S., including nonprofit management and fundraising training at Northwestern Kellogg, an "A to Z Grant Writing" course, and an Entrepreneur Certificate Program from John Wood Community College. He also attended "The Fletcher Summer Institute for the Advanced Study of Nonviolent Conflict" at The Fletcher School, Tufts University.
His work focuses on combating poverty, discrimination, bonded labor, and slavery, especially among marginalized communities in Nepal. As the Banke District Chairperson of the Tharu Welfare Council, he played a leading role in the historic "KAMAIYA" movement to end bonded labor.
Mr. Tharu has also served as an Organizational Development (OD) Advisor for twelve NGOs, specializing in strategic planning, governance, human resource management, and resource mobilization. With strong skills in grant writing, reporting, and capacity building, he remains committed to advancing social justice and sustainable development.
